We arrived bright and early around sunrise, watched the Coast Guard pull in and get refueled, and then loaded onto our whale watching boat.
We road passed Point Bonita Lighthouse. It was so adorable. Smallest Lighthouse I have ever seen!!
I also didn't think through the fact the last time I was on a very rocky boat was when I was 9. And your body changes a lot in 16 years. We almost had a wife down on boat (me). There were so many people puking for hours you started to believe you were going to puke too. And then you started feeling sick, and dizzy, and well then I fell asleep on the back deck for an hour and awoke at our destination.
I clearly didn't think 8 hours on a boat through. It took us almost 5 hours to reach the Farallones and hopefully see a Grey Whale. But man was it beautiful when we got there. I can't believe people live on this island and do research to this day. This island has so much history. People savaging it and eliminating so many species out of sport and survival. Just awful.
Anthony saw the whale- I was peeing in the bathroom- figures. But this was the only shot he got. I'd say that's worth the 8 hour boat ride in itself.
Our ride back to dock went so much quicker and smoother because we weren't fighting the pacific ocean current. We even saw some sporting people out on the Bay. Just beautiful.

What a cool way to spend a day! I love it!! Bummer that you didn't get to see it, though :(
I'm going whale watching in a couple weeks. I think we will only be on the boat 4-5 hours total, but I'm going to be eating Dramamine like candy. I hope and pray and I don't spend the whole time puking.
AMAZING! I need to remember to check out groupons more often, I always forget about them!
